We work with trades and home-service businesses across all of Ontario, from the Greater Toronto Area to Thunder Bay, Windsor to Cornwall. Consultations are available by video call or in person, as well as by phone, text and email, so where you are based doesn't change how quickly you reach us. What changes is the marketing itself, because a crowded suburb and a town of 15,000 reward very different plans.
What stays the same everywhere in Ontario
Some facts hold province-wide, and they shape every plan we write.
Ontario's trades work under the same provincial regulators wherever you are. Fuels work falls under the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA), electrical licensing under the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), workplace insurance under the WSIB, and trade certification under Skilled Trades Ontario. We link to them because customers increasingly check them; we don't give compliance advice, and we are not a contractor.
Heating shapes demand across the province. Statistics Canada's 2023 household survey found natural gas was the main heating fuel for 58% of Ontario households, electricity for 18% and propane for 4%. For HVAC and plumbing clients, that mix decides which services to push in which months, and it changes sharply between a gas-served suburb and a rural township.
The Greater Toronto Area
The GTA is a crowded trades market, and marketing there is a game of small margins. Toronto, Peel, York, Durham and Halton each behave differently: high-rise condos in Toronto, large detached-home suburbs in Vaughan and Brampton, and fast-growing towns to the east and west.
Our Greater Toronto Area page covers how to pick a winnable slice of the region rather than trying to cover all of it, and why cost per call varies so much between municipalities.
Ottawa
Ottawa is a large, single city with a suburban core, a rural edge and Quebec across the river. It rewards businesses that are clear about which wards and which side of the river they serve.
The Ottawa page covers the city's unusual housing mix, the cross-border question for contractors near Gatineau, and when French-language marketing is worth the extra effort.
Southwestern Ontario
Southwestern Ontario runs from Hamilton and Niagara through Waterloo Region and Guelph to London and Windsor. It is a string of mid-sized cities, each with its own media, its own suburbs and its own surrounding farm country.
The Southwestern Ontario page covers how to market across several cities without spreading a budget too thin, and how the region's older housing stock shapes demand.
Eastern Ontario
Eastern Ontario takes in Kingston, Belleville, Peterborough, Cornwall and the towns and townships between them. Distances are longer, towns are smaller, and reputation travels fast.
The Eastern Ontario page covers marketing along the Highway 401 corridor, rural service areas and seasonal cottage work.
Northern Ontario
Northern Ontario is vast and thinly populated, with Greater Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, North Bay and Timmins as the main centres. Heating seasons run longer and colder, and a strong local reputation can matter more than any ad.
The Northern Ontario page covers how to market a business whose service area may be hundreds of kilometres wide, and why being the obvious name in one town often beats being visible in five.
How we learn your local market
We don't pretend to know every street in Ontario, and we never make up local facts. Instead, we combine three sources.
- You. Which towns you drive to, which jobs you want, which neighbourhoods have older homes or newer builds.
- Public data. Census housing and population figures from Statistics Canada, and municipal planning information where it helps.
- Search data. What people in your service area actually type into Google, and who shows up when they do.
That is enough to build a plan that fits your area. If you want official regulator links and general guides for Ontario trades in one place, Ontario.Center collects them. To start, read about the free consultation, or go straight to the contact page and send two lines about your trade and town.
Frequently asked questions
Do you work everywhere in Ontario?
Yes. We work with trades businesses anywhere in the province. Because we meet by video call or in person, and by phone, text and email, a client in Timmins gets the same access to a senior strategist as a client in Toronto.
Do you need to know my town to market my business there?
We need to learn it, and nobody knows it better than you. We combine what you know about your customers with public data on housing and population, and we never invent local facts.
Is marketing cheaper outside the GTA?
Usually, yes. Fewer competitors bid on ads and fewer businesses have well-built Google profiles, so the same budget tends to go further in a smaller market.
My service area crosses two regions. Which page applies?
Both. Many businesses straddle a border, for example between Durham and Peterborough County. We plan around where your customers actually live, not around map labels.
